NEWBORN Photography faq'S

when is the best time to book my newborn session?

It's never too early to book your newborn session. Babies are unpredictable and arrive when they're ready - not when we want them to. I recommend booking while you're still pregnant to ensure availability. Most expecting mothers book at least 2 months in advance.

Booking is easy. Simply contact me to see if I have availability around your due date. If we decide we're a good fit for one another, a signed contract and booking fee are required to get on the calendar. Package balance is due the day of your session.

If you're hoping to capture those cute, curly poses, the ideal age is between 5-18 days old - however this is a recommendation, not a requirement. Babies outside of this age range can still get gorgeous images with a little patience and a modified workflow. Want to learn more? Read my blog post that outlines when you should take newborn photos.

Your due date is used as a placeholder on our calendar and we'll determine a concrete session date when baby arrives - no matter if they're early or late. When you book early, it gives you priority over the available slots. I only schedule a select number of due dates each month to ensure that each family receives the attention they need. Rest assured, you're guaranteed to get into the studio no matter when your little one arrives.

Family portraits are always encouraged - whether this is your first baby or your fifth. This session is your opportunity to document the changes your family is going through - in this moment. Big siblings and parents are always welcome to be photographed.

All newborn sessions take place in my home studio - based in Lake Wylie, SC. The space is dedicated specifically to newborns and is sanitized frequently and rigorously to ensure your family's safety, health and well-being. Take a moment to review our sanitation policy for more information. At this time, we do not offer in-home newborn photoshoots.

I've sourced my extensive prop collection from vendors from around the world to guarantee the best quality for your little love. All props, headbands, hats, buckets, bowls, etc have been specifically crafted for newborn photography to ensure that they photograph gorgeously. When you book a session with me, you gain access to my prop collection. Everything you need for your session is provided.

For baby, all you'll need is a full feeding handy - whether it be breast milk or formula and a pacifier for soothing. Diapers and wipes are provided for your convenience. For yourself, your significant other or older siblings, it's recommended to bring a light snack.

Full newborn sessions typically take between 3-4 hours. Believe it or not, most newborns want nothing to do with their first photoshoot. The safety of your precious cargo is my priority and I'll never force a baby into a pose for the sake of a picture. That said, there is plenty of time to allow your little one to get comfortable and safely settle into poses. There's also built in time for feedings, burping, soothing, diaper changes and of course - snuggles. I also offer a newborn mini option - which is a 1 hour fully swaddled session for baby only.

Don't worry about any breakouts or blemishes that may arise. Each purchased image is individually edited to ensure every detail is perfect - this includes removing blemishes, correcting discoloration, removing flakes and overall skin tone evening. Birthmarks and Mongolian spots are NOT removed, but can be edited out upon request.

You will receive a proof gallery of soft-edited images to make your selections from within 48 hours of your session. Once you've chosen your favorites, those will be fully retouched. Your final gallery will be delivered within 10 business days of your selections being made.
