If your baby is outside of the “2 week” window and you haven’t gotten the chance to book a newborn session, I highly recommend considering a wrapped session. Wrapped sessions typically last between 30 and 45 minutes and make your newest arrival the star of the show.
You can expect multiple setups completely styled to your preferences. A pre-session questionnaire is sent to help me get an idea of the look and feel of your home and where you would ideally hang your images (or display them in albums) – to ensure the final product integrate seamlessly with your decor. After all, the whole reason to get photos taken is to print and hang them in your home – amirite?!?
What makes a swaddled session different?
- Wrapped sessions are a more relaxed experience for parents and baby. Most babies can’t resist a good swaddle and they’re pretty comfortable the entire time. Because we’re not unwrapping baby and posing, they feel secure and we can move through the setups/props fairly quickly and without many breaks.
- If you’re short on time or don’t want to sit in the studio for a 3 hour session – this option is ideal. Many times, new parents just don’t want to sit through a full session and I totally understand that. The last thing I wanted, was to be out for long extended periods of time with a newborn. The fact that this session is shorter in length makes it ideal for moms who want to be in and out.
- Wrapped sessions provide more variety and flexibility to “older” newborns. Many photographers won’t accept newborns after 2 weeks – citing that they’ve missed the window for newborn styled posed portraits. If you have your heart set on posing and your baby is a little older, I’m here to tell you it’s NOT impossible. You can absolutely achieve gorgeous images AND have tons of variety.
- All parents deserve to have gorgeous keepsakes to remember their sweet baby the way they are. They’ll never be this little again and those memories fade fast. I created this affordable newborn photography option for families who want to have photos taken of their little one in my artistic style and not spend a ton of money.
Will my gallery have variety?
Don’t let the name fool you. Of course you can get tons of variety from a wrapped newborn session! There are numerous wrap styles available to give a different look to each of your images. Couple some unique wrapping techniques with the studio’s handmade prop collection, specialty textiles and gorgeous headbands and bonnets and you have a unique work of art.
Here are a few different wrap styles to show just how much variety you can get.
